Handpicked places to stay in Bahia — from charming pousadas in Cabralia to relaxed beachside apartments and boutique hotels in Canavieiras

Paul Casa de Praia

Perfectly positioned just moments from the stunning beaches of Santa Cruz Cabrália, these apartments offer the ideal blend of relaxation and convenience. A short stroll brings you to the beachfront cabanas and restaurants, while the charming town centre — with its local shops, supermarkets, and pharmacy — is only 5–10 minutes away on foot.

Each apartment is thoughtfully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a handy kitchenette — perfect for relaxed mornings with fresh fruit, yoghurt, coffee, and warm Brazilian bread. The rooms are immaculately clean, beautifully presented, and designed for comfort, with excellent air conditioning, Netflix, and reliable WiFi.

What truly makes this place special, however, is the warm hospitality. Paul, your host, goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is seamless and enjoyable — attentive, welcoming, and always happy to help. He is wonderfully supported by Cida, whose care and attention to detail keep everything spotless and running perfectly, adding an extra layer of comfort to your stay.

Charming Pousadas

For a truly authentic experience, stay in intimate, locally owned guesthouses that offer a genuine taste of Brazilian hospitality and culture.

Pousada Fauna e Flora, Santa Cruz Cabralia holds a special place in my heart — it’s where it all began, and the very first place I stayed back in 1991. Tucked away just a 10-minute walk from the town centre and around 15 minutes from the beach, it offers a peaceful escape from the bustle.

This charming, rustic pousada is set within beautiful, lush gardens, creating a tranquil and relaxed atmosphere. The accommodation is simple yet self-contained, making it ideal for backpackers, solo travellers, or those planning a longer stay to truly explore the area at their own pace.

If you’re looking for somewhere with character, history, and a real sense of place, this is it — understated, authentic, and wonderfully calming.

Imperialis Boutique Hotel

We had the most wonderful stay at Imperialis Boutique Hotel — truly a hidden gem in the heart of Bahia. Arriving by boat through the mangroves from Belmonte made the whole experience feel incredibly special. As we stepped into Canavieiras, we were instantly charmed by this beautiful old town, and the hotel was the perfect place to stay. From the moment we checked in, the staff were so warm and welcoming. The rooms are beautifully styled, comfortable, and full of character. After our journey, cooling off in the pool was just what we needed before heading out for the evening. The town square is vibrant and full of life — we had such a lovely evening soaking up the atmosphere — and then returned to the hotel for one of the best night's sleeps we've had. In the morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast, followed by a relaxed coffee and a really lovely chat with the owners, which made the stay feel even more personal and memorable. We left feeling completely refreshed and already planning our return. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area — it's a truly special place.
