With close friends living here, I’ve had the chance to experience the real rhythm of life — not just the highlights, but the everyday moments that make this part of Brazil so special.

From slow mornings by the coast to music-filled evenings and hidden local spots you’d never find on your own, this is Bahia through my eyes. I’ll be sharing the places I genuinely love, including some incredible local pousadas and cabana's run by friends, along with honest insights into what it’s really like to live, travel, and settle here.

I’ve been travelling to Brazil since 1991, and it’s had a hold on me ever since. I lived there for six months in 1992, and after years away, I returned in 2023 to bring my best friend Sally’s ashes back to her pousada — a place that meant so much to us both.

I went back again in 2026, and these days Bahia feels less like a destination and more like home. I keep finding my way back, with a long-term plan to settle there one day.

This is where I share my journey, the people I love, and the real Brazil as I experience it.
